Hailing from Athens, Georgia, Widespread Panic formed in the University of Georgia in 1986, in the one dorm room shared by guitarists John Bell and Michael Houser. The pair decided to form a duo, and were soon writing songs together and performing, gradually recruiting the musicians that would eventually form the full line-up. Gaining attention on the live scene, they were swiftly signed to Capricorn Records, and released their first record in 1991.
The album was well received by critics as well as audiences, and the band went on to tour worldwide to promote their work. Their next album, “Everyday,” broke into the US Billboard 200, and their next, “Ain't Life Grand” got into the top 100!! From there, the band went from one success to another, garnering more and more fans as they went.
