Prolific singer-songwriter JJ Grey is the frontman of the celebrated southern/country rock icon JJ Grey & the Mofro. The band emerged in the mid-’90s with original members Grey and Daryl Hance under the band name Mofro. Before releasing their debut album in 2001, the band was renamed JJ Grey & Mofro. Their debut album, Blackwater was released in 2001, which showcased an infusion of blues and rock music. Meanwhile, Grey’s lyrics often describe his hometown and deep beliefs. This music style was evident in their second effort, Lochloosa. The album was aptly named after the Lochloosa Lake in Grey’s hometown, Jacksonville. Over the next decade, JJ Grey & Mofro released a few collaboration tracks with notable artists, such as Derek Trucks from the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Toos Hibbert from Toots and the Maytals. During this period, original member Daryl Hance left the band to pursue his solo career. He was later replaced by acclaimed guitarist, Andrew Trube. He recorded and released this River with the band in April 2013. The eighth studio effort spawned the hits “99 Shades of Crayz,” “Your Lady, She’s Shayd,” and “Florabama.” In 2015, JJ Grey & Mofor dropped their latest effort, Ol’ Glory. The album contains various influences from genres such as gospel, soul, funk, and rock.

Be one of the lucky ones to experience JJ Grey’s incredible setlist packed with hits like “Orange Blossom,” “Mississippi,” “Lochloosa,” “The Sweetest Thing,” and many more! Tickets to see JJ Grey & Mofro’s high-energy show at the St Augustine Amphitheatre are now available!
