Phoebe Bridgers began her career in music as a member of the avant-garde rock band Sloppy Jane. She left the band in 2015 and embarked on a solo career. Bridgers released her debut album, Stranger in the Alps, as a solo artist in 2017. The record performed exceptionally well on the Billboard charts, peaking at number eight on the US Folk Albums chart and number 13 on the US Heatseekers Albums chart.

She gained phenomenal success upon the release of her sophomore album, Punisher. This indie-rock effort was highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike. The record peaked at number two on the Billboard Top Alternative Albums chart and number four on the US Independent Albums chart. In 2021, Punisher was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, while the song “Kyoto” was nominated for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song.

Last but not least, Punisher has been named one of the top 10 best albums of 2020 by several publications, including Us Weekly, Esquire, GQ(UK), The New Yorker, The New York Times, USA Today, and Variety.
