It has been nearly 30 years since Widespread Panic hit the music scene. Originally composed of vocalist/guitarist John "JB" Bell, bassist Dave Schools, and late guitarist Michael Houser, they shared a suburban Athens, Georgia home near the University of Georgia campus where they met as students. Later, drummer Todd Nance joined them. With the arrival of drummer Duane Trucks, keyboardist John "JoJo" Hermann, and percussionist Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz, the band's lineup was cemented.
Even though Widespread Panic formed their original lineup in 1986 and more than three decades have passed, they still strive to be the finest band possible for their devoted fan base every single night. Their achievements during that period are well recorded. The band has sold over 3 million copies of its 12 studio albums (including Street Dogs) and 43 live CDs during their remarkable career, making them one of the most popular touring groups worldwide. Numerous large-scale venues across the US have had record-breaking attendance for Widespread Panic, including 48 sold-out performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.
"We acknowledge this is a milestone few groups get to achieve,” said member JB about their remarkable longevity. "It's like Hemingway's Old Man and the Sea. Every time we go out there, we learn more tricks, bring that knowledge with us, and then apply it. We're way more experienced, focused and to the point, but still willing to stretch out without wandering too much.”
This band is known to be one of the few who can successfully sell out the same venue on consecutive dates. It seems that people just can’t get enough of seeing them live! With that being said, they’re holding another 3-day event at St. Augustine, Florida. If you want to be there for every single show, you can secure 3-day passes which comes at a cheaper price and will guarantee entree to all shows from the 22nd to the 24th of March.
3-day passes for Widespread Panic's event in St. Augustine are very limited. If you want to save up on getting separate tickets for all shows, secure them now.
