The band released their debut album Childre of the Future in 1968, entering the Billboard 200 and gaining some impressive traction in the U.S. market. That same year, the band dropped Sailor, which soared to number top 30 in the mainstream chart. In 1973, Steve Miller Band rose to prominence with The Joker, a record that combines studio and live performance tracks. The album charted at number 2 in the U.S. and number 1 in Canada, making the record their highest charting effort to date. For the next decade, the band grew their massive following and maintained their impressive traction. By 1983, they became a worldwide phenomenon with their 12th album Abracadabra. Their album entered the charts in several countries, including the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., among others.
