Guitar idols Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are surfing across the US next spring for their Surfing With The Hydra Tour. From April to May, the legendary guitarists are showing off their impressive instrument mastery at various venues in the country with their SatchVai Band. Expect an immense and immersive musical experience with their electric guitars being showcased at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, 25th April 2026!
With 50 years of being friends because of their shared passion for music, Satriani and Vai have channeled their shared creativity and history to the world through their talents. Just in time for the release of their new music next year, this duo is bound to be unstoppable, as they are also joined by their band members. On this tour, American metal band Animals As Leaders will also be joining as an official special guest performer. When guitar masters Joe Satriani and Steve Vai formed the Satchvai Band, they were making absolute music magic. Both celebrated as musicians, rock fans all over the world have waited for this moment when two rock powerhouses join forces to create more music. Now, after their very successful tour in Europe, they are ready for their Spring With The Hydra Tour in North America with their bandmates guitarist Pete Thorn, drummer Kenny Aronoff, and bassist Marco Mendoza. Like the two lead members, their three bandmates are highly renowned for their impressive skills. Satriani is excited to go on tour, sharing, “The SATCH/VAI Band rides again! After a fantastic European tour last summer Steve, Kenny, Marco, Pete and I will bring the Surfing With The Hydra Tour to the US.” Vai also gives a glimpse on what this tour means to them, saying, “Being in the same band with Joe, playing songs we actually wrote together on stage, in real time felt like watching a childhood fantasy step out of my teenage brain and stroll onto the stage. And somehow, it was even more rewarding, satisfying, and downright fulfilling than I ever thought possible.”
The band’s highly anticipated single Dancing has kept their fans excited not only for their tour but for their new material. Their first two releases, the high-octane rocker I Wanna Play My Guitar with vocals by Glenn Hughes and the cinematic instrumental track The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1 have reflected their successful and lengthy careers. Vai is a three-time Grammy Award winner with 15 nominations, and he has enjoyed a career that is considered to possess "the richest and best hard rock guitar-virtuoso album of the '80s" with 15 million records sold. Satriani also has 15 Grammy Award nominations and is hailed as the bestselling instrumental rock guitarist of all time and was Vai’s guitar teacher. He was the guitarist of music icon Mick Jagger when the star had his first-ever solo tour. For their upcoming shows together, Vai shares that, “I feel as though we are both at the top of our game, and the show will be a powerful celebration of the coolest instrument in the world, the electric guitar!”
American instrumental progressive metal band Animals As Leaders are especially popular in the djent scene. They have four albums released since 2011: Weightless, The Joy of Motion, The Madness of Many, and Parrhesia. They will truly complement the energy of SatchVai on the upcoming tour as the official guest performer.
