With the dissolution of country-rock band Uncle Tupelo, ex-band mates Jeff Tweedy and John Stirratt reconnected the pieces of their country rock influences, infused alternative and experimental influences to form their new band which they named Wilco. From 1994, Wilco has had a series of band-member changes, up until 2004. Their now-solid line-up consists of Tweedy, Stirratt, guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, keyboard player Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche.
After being dropped from its roster by a major record label, Wilco kicked-back with a vengeance. In 2002, their fourth studio album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" put them on the music map and carved themselves a spot in the annals of music history. Apart from the controversy, they became the talk-of-the-town, reaping acclaim and praises from new found fans and the media. Rolling Stone certified it as third best album of the 2000’s and has included it on the list of top 500 albums of all time. "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot' is Wilco's best-selling album to date, with over 670,000 copies sold. From thereon, their hit streak persisted with two Grammy Awards wins for their fifth studio album, 2004's A Ghost Is Born , including Best Alternative Music Album.
